Product Description
SOLAR Pro-Logix automatic battery chargers control several variables through each phase of the charging process to ensure that each battery gets an optimal charge. This means that batteries are charged better and faster, avoiding damage to the battery and resulting in improved reserve capacity. SOLAR Pro-Logix automatic battery chargers deliver numerous feature enhancements to make battery charging, quicker, easier and more assured for today’s professional. Using Active Filtering Technology with Charge Control Circuitry, the charger reads the battery’s characteristics and delivers energy in a manner that is best for the battery, in essence allowing the battery to pull the energy from the charger rather than forcing it on the battery. This results in an optimal charge, with more power absorbed and maximum reserve capacity restored.

Many of the other chargers available claim be fully automatic, but they are not. This charger analyzes the battery's type, condition, how well it is taking the charge, monitors the entire process and automatically initiates a de-sulphate mode when needed and ends the multi-phase charging cycle with a true trickle charge mode. The computer control prevents over-charging and damage to the battery. Several of the chargers available that are touted as "automatic" actually do nothing but follow a preprogrammed charging cycle regardless of the battery's condition. This leads to over-charging and damage to the battery - and can be extremely dangerous. I've seen several posts on other products stating they left the battery to charge and came back some time later to find a battery essentially boiling over.3) Compact. This charger is about the size of a purse.4) Relatively cool running. This charger will get slightly warm (my garage is about 115-120F in the summer), but by no means hot. I've used other chargers that get extremely hot - and you don't have the confidence to leave it to its work unattended. I've left this charger (and the smaller 8 amp version I use to charge my Odyssey battery) unattended for days at a time without a problem.Cons:1) The design could incorporate higher quality/stronger clamps. This version is better than the smaller 8 amp version, but still a bit on the weak side.

It tends to get hot, but seems to be very effective and quite effecient. It's the 2nd one we've had and we don't really have any complaints with it.
